Metadynamics

Metadynamics was founded in 1984 as crushing and milling operation with involvement in Gypsum supply into the cement industry.
Metadynamics added speciality formulations to their product range. Situated in Olifantsfontein, Gauteng, Metadynamics has been servicing the needs of both local and international customers for 30 years. From humble beginnings, Metadynamics has grown rapidly to become an industry leader in crushing, milling and blending of industrial minerals. The wide range of products produced include both organic and inorganic materials. Metadynamic’s quality-control laboratory ensures strict management of product standards and compliance with customer requirements. Products are available in 25/40 kg bags, 1-ton sling bags and bulk tankers.
In 2017 OMV Group acquired 70% stake in Metadynamics, thereby maximising the synergies in Gypsum processing and formulated products.
Today OMV supply approximately 80% of raw gypsum demand in the cement industry in South Africa. Agricultural gypsum and dried gypsum are also supplied from OMV Potchefstroom facility.
The OMV Group was founded in 1952 as a small mining and contracting entity on the Free States Goldfields.
In 2014 Raubex Ltd, one of the largest construction and material supply companies listed on the JSE acquired 70% stake in OMV.
OMV involvement in Gypsum mining originally started in the Northern Cape and switched to reclaiming synthetic Gypsum from the previous fertilizer operations waste dump in Potchefstroom. A washing and neutralisation plant was installed in 1997 at the Potchefstroom plant.
In 2017 a gypsum drying kiln was installed at OMV Potchefstroom, followed by a gypsum calcination plant constructed in 2018. In 2019 OMV and Metadynamics commenced with adding Gypsum Plaster of Paris and Gypsum skimming plaster as new products to the existing range.
